Cover Reveal: The Scars That Made Us

It’s finally here! As promised, the cover reveal of my new contemporary romance, “The Scars That Made Us”. I can’t tell you guys how psyched I am about this cover. I made it months ago when I was still writing the book, because I had so many ideas for it. And now it’s here!

Let me know what you guys think about it, I’d love to know!

Synopsis:

Ultimatums suck.

I should know. I was handed one on my eighteenth birthday by my mogul of a father. And it’s all because he refuses to believe that I can take care of myself, that I don’t need a man to fall back on in case my college dreams fail. But as much as I hate to admit it, his doubt comes from a logical place. It all stems from the nightmare incident that happened to me when I was seven years old. An event that has left scars of both the physical and emotional variety on me, leaving my body weaker than most.

But what is the ultimatum, you ask?

I either marry a man of his choosing for a stable financial future, or else I don’t get his check to go to college and complete my dreams of becoming a doctor.

Tell me, how do you trust a man who only wants to marry you for the check your father is so obviously writing him? The answer is you don’t.

But when Jagger Wells, my ridiculously gorgeous intended, explains the real reason behind his going along with this scheme, I begin to see the man beyond the pretty face; a guy just trying to do right by his family. And I decide that maybe there’s a way we can both get what we want without having to sign a marriage certificate in the process. All it would require is a little acting on our part and a couple of well-placed lies.

After a while, though, it doesn’t feel like we’re tricking our families anymore, but ourselves. That’s when lines blur, feelings become something real, and the truth is ultimately questioned.

In the end, I discover that I am not the only one with scars.

“The Scars That Made Us” Cover News!

As I was up late last night, working with my marketing cap on, I decided that I needed a solid plan with the release of the TSTMU cover. All of my other reveals have been spur of the moment, overly excited posts that didn’t have any real build up. Of course, I was seventeen then and I didn’t know a freaking thing about marketing/advertising a book. So…that leads me to now, nearly five years later and still with little knowledge on how to get people excited about my releases lol. But nevertheless, I have decided that on March 25th, ten days from now, I will officially release the cover for “The Scars That Made Us”. I’ll be releasing it here, on my Insta (shown on the right ->) and also on Twitter (@IndaHerwood, also shown on the right ->). I may even find a few people who will help me out with my endeavor, like Julia from The Romance Bibliophile.

Also, my friend, author Laura Holt, is having a slow release cover blitz of her new YA dark fantasy, “Fathoms Between”, over on her Instagram (@authorlauraholt). It would be awesome of you to go check it out and give her some love!

Ultimatums suck.

I don’t even know why I was surprised when my father handed me one on my eighteenth birthday, especially one so ridiculous and degrading. He thinks that I can’t take care of myself, that I need a man to fall back on in case my college dreams fail. All because of a nightmare incident that happened to me when I was seven years old. An incident that has left scars of both the physical and emotional variety.

And what is the ultimatum you ask?

He’s forcing me to marry a man I’ve never met before, or else I don’t get his check to go to college and complete my dreams of becoming a doctor, helping the sick.

I had no idea that my life was set in a Bronte novel.

But it gets worse. Not only am I supposed to marry a man who only wants me for the check my father is obviously writing him, but he’s hot, too. Like, super hot. The kind of hot only put on display in magazines and TV shows. Honestly, I don’t trust him, and I certainly don’t intend to go through with my father’s insane plan.

But when Jagger Wells, my intended, explains the real reason behind his going along with this scheme, and I see the kind man beyond the pretty face, I decide that maybe there’s a way we can both get what we want without having to sign a marriage certificate. And at the same time, teach our meddling parents a lesson.

After a while, though, it doesn’t feel like we’re tricking our families anymore, but ourselves. And when lines blur, feelings become something real, and the truth is questioned, hearts ultimately shatter.

In the end, I discover that I’m not the only one with scars.

But these are the scars that made us. The ones that have shaped our present.

I can only hope they aren’t the ones that break us, too.

Writing Update…

Trying to get back into the swing of things after taking a writing break for a while, due to some health issues – both mental and physical. Hopefully I’ll make some more progress this week on “The Scars That Made Us”. One of the more personally connected stories I’ve written in a while.

Enjoy the teaser!

Either spend the summer getting “personality rehab” at Dylan’s sister’s famous horse training center, or forfeit his contract with the label and lose the dream life he has as a hip hop artist. Which do you think he chooses?

*This book is a standalone*

Life is pretty simple for Patience Kellen. At eighteen years old she is the youngest trainer at her aunt Molly’s horse farm, Kellen Stables, and her life pretty much revolves around the horses she molds into prize winning thoroughbreds. So when news that one of Dylan’s protection details needs a bit of down to earth rehabilitation, she doesn’t even flinch. That is until she meets the tatted up rapper who has…let’s just say a mouth on him.

This summer just got a whole lot more interesting. For both parties.

I hope you liked my surprise, and may whatever book you are currently reading at the moment be the most amazing one you’ve read yet!

Happy reading, friends.

Synopsis:

What would you do if your summer was hijacked because your parents wanted to study freaking bugs? Well, that’s what happened to me. I thought the summer after high school graduation would be a time to have fun, plan for college, and avoid the parents. I did avoid the parents, just not in the way I wanted to.

So instead of going for the summer to Colorado with Mom and Dad, I went with my only other option: my crazy aunt who I haven’t seen in years. And who just so happens to be a make-up artist in England now. Score, right?

Not.

A week into my vacay my aunt gets a call and away we go on some stupid tour her clumsy friend bailed on. Little did I know that the band we were working for just happened to be the biggest boy band in the world. And one of them just had to make me break my rules…

Maybe I should have gone with the crickets.

This book is clean, YA/NA romance.
