“The Scars That Made Us” Cover News!

As I was up late last night, working with my marketing cap on, I decided that I needed a solid plan with the release of the TSTMU cover. All of my other reveals have been spur of the moment, overly excited posts that didn’t have any real build up. Of course, I was seventeen then and I didn’t know a freaking thing about marketing/advertising a book. So…that leads me to now, nearly five years later and still with little knowledge on how to get people excited about my releases lol. But nevertheless, I have decided that on March 25th, ten days from now, I will officially release the cover for “The Scars That Made Us”. I’ll be releasing it here, on my Insta (shown on the right ->) and also on Twitter (@IndaHerwood, also shown on the right ->). I may even find a few people who will help me out with my endeavor, like Julia from The Romance Bibliophile.

Also, my friend, author Laura Holt, is having a slow release cover blitz of her new YA dark fantasy, “Fathoms Between”, over on her Instagram (@authorlauraholt). It would be awesome of you to go check it out and give her some love!

“The Scars That Made Us” Synopsis Release!

I am so, so, SOOOOOO excited to finally release the synopsis of my latest NA romance, “The Scars That Made Us”! And hopefully you’ll all get a peek at the cover soon too!

P.S. You can also add “The Scars That Made Us” to your to-read shelf now on Goodreads!

***********************************************

Ultimatums suck.

I don’t even know why I was surprised when my father handed me one on my eighteenth birthday, especially one so ridiculous and degrading. He thinks that I can’t take care of myself, that I need a man to fall back on in case my college dreams fail. All because of a nightmare incident that happened to me when I was seven years old. An incident that has left scars of both the physical and emotional variety.

And what is the ultimatum you ask?

He’s forcing me to marry a man I’ve never met before, or else I don’t get his check to go to college and complete my dreams of becoming a doctor, helping the sick.

I had no idea that my life was set in a Bronte novel.

But it gets worse. Not only am I supposed to marry a man who only wants me for the check my father is obviously writing him, but he’s hot, too. Like, super hot. The kind of hot only put on display in magazines and TV shows. Honestly, I don’t trust him, and I certainly don’t intend to go through with my father’s insane plan.

But when Jagger Wells, my intended, explains the real reason behind his going along with this scheme, and I see the kind man beyond the pretty face, I decide that maybe there’s a way we can both get what we want without having to sign a marriage certificate. And at the same time, teach our meddling parents a lesson.

After a while, though, it doesn’t feel like we’re tricking our families anymore, but ourselves. And when lines blur, feelings become something real, and the truth is questioned, hearts ultimately shatter.

In the end, I discover that I’m not the only one with scars.

But these are the scars that made us. The ones that have shaped our present.

I can only hope they aren’t the ones that break us, too.

Synopsis:

St. Claire Adams is the newest up and coming rapper to face music since Eminem. He travels the world, performs to crowds of thousands, and he also finds himself in L.A. County jail. A lot. And his final arrest gets him in some deep water not only with his bodyguard Dylan, but more importantly with his record label. Now Saint has an ultimatum to face. Either spend the summer getting “personality rehab” at Dylan’s sister’s famous horse training center, or forfeit his contract with the label and lose the dream life he has as a hip hop artist. Which do you think he chooses?

Life is pretty simple for Patience Kellen. At eighteen years old she is the youngest and most promising trainer at her aunt Molly’s horse farm, Kellen Stables, set in the middle of Nowhere, Kentucky. But even when news that one of Dylan’s protection details needs to come to the farm for a bit of down to earth rehabilitation, she doesn’t flinch. That is until she meets the tatted up rapper who has…let’s just say a mouth on him.

This summer just got a whole lot more interesting. For both parties.

The Return (Titan #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout review

18809475

Synopsis:

The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…

It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

Book 1 in the new adult paranormal TITAN series, spin-off to the best selling COVENANT series.

REVIEW

It’s no secret that I am a serious addict when it comes to Jennifer L. Armentrout’s books. I mean seriously, no one can compare to her. I admire and respect her from a reader’s stand point and also an author’s, because there truly is something to be said about clean, crisp writing. And Jen is the master of it.

The Return was no exception.

What did I love about this book? EVERYTHING. I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but it’s not. Every detail in this book had me enraptured. Not a single page was left without a purpose, and I was totally hooked throughout the story.

The book in question picks up a year after the end of the Covenant series. But don’t worry. You don’t have to read all of the Covenant books to understand this spin-off. Those events are explained in a pretty little package at some point in the book so that you get the gist of all that happened to make Seth the way he is. Speaking of Seth…

Wowza. In the dictionary under this word, you will see a picture of Seth, our leading man in The Return. I seriously missed Seth from the Covenant series. Since his introduction there, he’s been one of my favorite characters. Snarky, sexy, raw, and overall just ridiculous in how perfect he is, I was a Seth girl from day one. This book only increased my addiction to him. And though a moment ago I said he was flawless in a physical sense, I can’t say the same for, ahem, other things.

Seth is scarred. And broken. And well, lets admit it, a huge beautiful mess. Reading from his point of view in this brand new series really had me seeing a whole other side of him. But I love him more for his flaws, for his self-loathing and overall dislike for himself. I know that sounds demented, but hearing him berate his own self for his past actions just showed what a truly selfless person he is, and the fact that yes, he DOES have morals, much to his disagreement. Ugh, I just wanted to hug the idiot when he did put himself down. But aside from all that I love about his personality, I also loved his interactions with Josie and their easy playfulness with each other. He always brings humor to rather dark situations, and I love that about him. But that’s enough of me talking about Seth. Don’t want to ruin all of his yummy details for you, lol.

That brings me to Josie. Ah, poor Josie. The girl was just trying to finish up college and then she has to have her world obliterated by none other than Seth. Who, lets admit, is not the best at delivering harsh news. He’s not a sugar coater, that’s for freaking sure. But man…Josie was a champ. She’s the type of heroine that I love. Sassy, yet sweet. Vulnerable, but had a voice and she used it when it was important. She wasn’t ‘in your face’, nor too docile. She was the perfect mix of the two that made you feel like any girl reading the story could relate to her in some way. Josie – to me – is going to be a universally received character.

In other words, I loved her. She was fantastic. I also loved her interactions with Seth. He was (oddly) very gentle with her, which freaked a lot of people out in the book who knew him before. If you’ve read about Seth in the Covenant series, then you know this guy can be described as anything BUT gentle. I think that’s why I loved this story so much, though. The two MC’s were so perfect for each other that simply being together brought out their best qualities. Josie gave Seth a softer, more patient side, and I think Seth made Josie feel like there are things in this world worth fighting for. That it’s okay to have the confidence to take a stand.

He made her brave.

She made him human.

AH! I’m getting the feels just talking about these two. But anyways… This book was perfection and the most brilliant start to this (sure to be freaking AMAZING) series. The writing was flawless, the pace flowed beautifully, and the story was intricate enough to keep your attention, but not overdone to where you felt confused or bored. If you pick this book up, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. It has a little something for everyone.

The Return (Titan #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout = 5 unbelievable stars
