So, how is everyone’s 2018 going so far? Well I hope. Mine has been…interesting, I guess you could say lol. I got a cold, which stunk, but it gave me more time for reading, meaning I’ve checked off two of the ten books I wanted to read this year. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot, but I usually up the number throughout the year based on the amount of reads I find. Hopefully I’ll find some great ones this year, and if you have any you’d like to recommend, please do so in comments! I love seeing what you guys are into at the moment.
I’m happy to report that so far I’ve loved every book of 2018! “The Scorpio Races” by Maggie Stiefvater is one I’ve read before, but that was a whopping five years ago, and for Christmas I received the paperback edition, which I was SO psyched about. I loved it the first time I read it and I loved it even more the second time. And “The Shadowhunters Codex” by Cassandra Clare and Joshua Lewis was a new read but a great one. If you’re familiar with the Shadowhunter series, then you’ll understand what the codex is. It’s a book containing all knowledge on Shadowhunters and their culture/history, as well as information on magical creatures such as warlocks, faeries, and werewolves. I really enjoyed feeling like a Shadowhunter while reading it, and I’m glad I finally get to cross it off my reading list after having it sitting there for years!
So what about you? What’s your reading list looking like at the moment? Did you set a challenge for yourself? Let me know down below!
Current Page: 121 (yes, I am aware I am moving at a snail’s pace with this read)
How I feel about it:
Why: Because stuff is just getting interesting ;-p
So my current read at the moment is the first installment in the Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare, and it seems like I’ve been waiting for this book’s release a life time too long. At this point, expect many memes in the review to come 😉
Let me know in comments if any of you are reading this book at the moment or plan to in the future!
The Shadowhunters of Los Angeles star in the first novel in Cassandra Clare’s newest series, The Dark Artifices, a sequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series. Lady Midnight is a Shadowhunters novel.
It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses.
Together with her parabatai Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions…
Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother Mark—who was captured by the faeries five years ago—has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind—and they need the Shadowhunters’ help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?
Glitz, glamours, and Shadowhunters abound in this heartrending opening to Cassandra Clare’s Dark Artifices series.
Nothing like a good book/series to go back to time and time again 😉 My love for this series never gets old.
(P.S. I made the bookmark myself with some leftover watercolor paper and a Sharpie. LOL, not sold in stores.)

So excited to announce that they have officially revealed who will be playing Simon Lewis and Isabelle Lightwood in the new Shadowhunters TV series! Alberto Rosende will be playing Simon (pictured far left) and Emeraude Toubia will be our Isabelle. And of course, you all know that Dominic Sherwood has already been casted as none other than Jace Wayland (pictured far right, obviously lol). I’ll continue doing posts like these when they announce the rest of the cast. Untill then, have an awesome day my fellow Shadowhunters ➰
